lyrics

The sun-slapped southern son
Asked eleven questions
Answered all but one
Shuffled his knuckles
He was bone-tired wild
Been on the run
Ever since he was a child

Perhaps it was the boredom
Or maybe it was the tan
That drew her so quickly
To the strange man

He felt her spark from across the room
The last flaming light
In a dying saloon
Her lipstick kicked loudly
While inside she rubbed bored
She’d heard of the man
Who could never keep his word

Perhaps it was the boredom
Or maybe it was the tan
That drew her so quickly
To the strange man
And maybe it was her lips
Or the fulness of her wit
That drew him so fatefully
To take that twisted sip
